Digitisation is transforming lives, with significant sectors shifting online. While this progress is welcome, it also brings serious cyber threats. Governments, businesses, and individuals face risks from hackers, criminal groups, and even hostile nations. Cybercrime is rising, with attacks ranging from financial fraud to espionage and cyber warfare. Deepfakes further amplify these risks by manipulating information and deceiving users.
Dr. S Chakravarthy, in his book ‘Privacy Right and Data Protection’, explores the complexities of cybersecurity, categorising issues into three silos—Trust, Overreach, and Erosion (Good, Bad, and Ugly). He draws on global legal precedents and sheds light on privacy rights and data protection challenges. In this talk, he will discuss key cybersecurity threats and share essential dos and don’ts for individuals, firms, and policymakers.

Dr. S Chakravarthy, a former IAS officer, has over four decades of experience in industries, commerce, corporate law, and competition policy. A doctorate from IIT Delhi and a law graduate from DU, he has shaped competition laws in India and globally. He is currently an Honorary Visiting Professor at ASCI.
